The rising number of what I call the millennial airy singing style has caught my attention since 2015 but kept it to myself since I know a lot of artist who sing this way. Now that Regine cried "It's the same sound" I know exactly what she's talking about.
On the other hand I DO hear what Moira was timidly trying to muster as she defended Leann. Before she got interrupted, Moira was talking about arrangement. That could, if you ask me, make or break an entire song, and ideally, even define an artistic voice. Does the phrase "find your own voice" literally mean our actual voice? Or could it also come from elsewhere, like execution? sentiments? musical style? image? attitude?
What if one artist with the millennial airy voice performs with a complete set of kulintang as he/she sings about the struggles of the Talaandig in Impasugong? I would say that's quite an original "voice".
Music is made up of many elements that could generate an infinite variety that it's too exciting to have time to get caught up on one element like voice quality.
