All the silly and unreasonable mysterious supernova of stress in Urban lifestyle adjustment and possible culture shock (not to mention my tagalog as hard as marble) had permitted my creative forces a leave of absence not knowing when to return, thus the frightening unproductivity.
Yesterday I attended an exhibit of the life and works of the late Jose Maceda, and a performance of some of his marvelous works at the UP Vargas Museum. It's the first time I've ever witnessed an up-close orchestra playing, with Chino Toledo conducting. I must admit I was a little bit starstruck (although I tried to act cool the whole time) bumping into some other notable (at least for me) personas present in the exhibit. Dr. Ramon Santos, Eudy Palaruan, Jonas Baes (wah), Mark Carpio (classmate ko sa masters btw), Mar. Christine Muyco, and the exceptional Lourd de Veyra and sidekick Jun Sabayton who later showed up with his smashing bigote. Forgot to mention Armi of Up Dharma Down, by the way, who gave such an impressive and unique opening for the sound art performance, not with her keyboard but with a Koto (not the one you find in your hair but the Phil. Instrument).
As we left the museum into the dark woods that is UP campus I've even formed an analytic scientific conclusion;
Birds of the same feather "make a good feather duster", Interrupted my partner Jutnemerns.
But why am I even writing this? The reason why I opened this notebook in the first place is just to jot down a 5-min old idea. Make an Art song. Kundiman to be more specific. Using 12 tone method. Har har (evil laugh echoes across the Gates of Hell...)
